Mobility plan Sint-Niklaas

Improving the quality of life in the city and the road safety through a new SUMP.

With a new mobility plan, the city of Sint-Niklaas wishes to improve the quality of life in the city and also to increase the road safety. Clear and readable signs and roads are key elements for this renovation.

The sustainable urban mobility plan makes use of a new local circulation concept that creates a city centre with less traffic. Thanks to this concept and an integrated bicycle policy the bicycle can become the main form of urban transport. Public transport is organized around main axes and the existing parking supply is optimized by a more directed parking policy.

The mobility plan describes short-term measures but also a first idea of the long-term vision. Future alternatives are to be tested in a pilot neighbourhood.
