Mobility plan for Ghent
Ghent has been at the forefront of sustainable mobility policy since the late 1990s. In the first-generation Mobility Plan, the most important principles for public transport, parking and car and bicycle traffic had already been laid down.
To update the Ghent mobility plan, Technum has worked together with Traject. Together we examine concepts such as zone 30, freight traffic and integral cycling policy. We further explore existing themes - the environment, accessibility and categorization of the roads. The study has led to a new and ambitious mobility policy for the city of Ghent.
An evaluation in the autumn of 2017 showed that the mobility plan has succeeded in its design: Ghent is more traffic safe, accessibility has improved and the quality of life and air has improved.
