CHAMP brings together leading cities in the field of cycling policy.

CHAMP (Cycling Heroes Advancing sustainable Mobility Practice) brings together leading (champion) cities in the field of cycling policy.

Groningen, Orebro, Bolzano, Edinburgh, Ljubljana and Burgos are leading cycling cities in their country and at European level. These cities have been improving cycling conditions since a long time and have a relatively high share of cycling in the modal split.

Despite the high number of cyclists, the champion cities feel a strong need to further increase the use of cycling. By looking at their counterparts in Europe, they want to find a way to upgrade and optimize their bike policy and collect new ideas for making cycling even safer and more attractive. CHAMP will facilitate the exchange of best practices, experiences and lessons learned (good and bad ones!) in the field of urban cycling policies.

CHAMP is a project within the Intelligent Energy-program of the European Commission and runs from oct 2011 till sep 2014. The consortium is coordinated by Traject and consists of the leading cycling cities, research institutes and consultancies. More info :  http://www.champ-cycling.eu/
